BNP Paribas Spain celebrated the first anniversary of the launch of “Turbos” on the Spanish listed derivatives market this year. To mark the occasion, a competition was organised on the Internet. The aim was to design a car closest to the spirit of the Turbo products – fast, with potential, power and experience.
The prize, courtesy of BNP Paribas’ leasing subsidiary Arval, was an Austin Mini decorated in the colours of the winning project. Investors are showing increasing interest in derivative products in a fast-growing market. With the launch of Turbos, BNP Paribas broadened its offer to these investors.
Turbos are similar to warrants, except for one feature: a “cut-off threshold” which makes the product expire if the price of the underlying instrument reaches the threshold. They provide a powerful leverage effect which strongly increases the potential for gains.
